Pardon me for using such an ambiguous headline…….its me trying to bring your attention to my blog………………..
Tinge/undertone is generally used to refer to muted tone of sound or color. Skin undertone is then the underlying muted color underneath the surface of your skin that affects your overall hue..ranging from style, makeup, hairdo, accessories exectra. A lot of people rely on this aspect(undertone)for fashion choices. On the other hand, skin complexion is completely unrelated to this as its just the color of a person’s skin.Looking your best doesn’t have to be about buying the most expensive products or designer clothing. The first step should be to determine what type of skin tone you have and choosing colors of hair, clothing and makeup around your complexion.By wearing the most flattering shades, you will find that your skin appears smoother and your eyes shine brighter.
Well….there are varied types of skin undertones as stated by stylists and bloggers.Generally, for simplicity i will discuss the two major categories, the warm and cool skin undertone. The rest are just subbranches from these. The neutral undertone is more muted and tends to emulate the natural color of your skin.
Whilst all these sound all complicated, uncovering your skin undertone is the easiest…simply flip your wrist against natural light and try ascertaining the color of your veins:
- cool:veins on the underside of your wrist appear blue/purple…..pink,red oor bluish undertones(you skin burns easily and rarely tans)
- warm:veins on the underside of your wrist appear green…..yellow,peachy or golden undertones(your skin tans easily)
- neutral:veins appear colorless or match the color of your skin
If you find yourself opting for outfits ranging from yellow, golden, orange, shades of red, olive green and brown you are more likely to be warm toned.Tends to go for off white colors, those which add warmth to your overall hue. Accessories with a traditional yellow or golden shade really look good on their skin.Mahogany and golden hair dyes are a perfect complement to your skin.Sunshine gives you an instant perfect glow and rarely get sunburned.Leans more to foundations with shades of yellow and peach and lipsticks with shades of brown, amber, hazel and red.Universally warm/sallow undertones look perfect in tints of peach, yellow and golden.
People with this undertone are more inclined to cooler colors like blue, pink, purple and emerald green.Warmer shades makes you look washed out or too overdressed. They mostly do silver accessories……and gemstone accessories with colors like blue, purple, greens and their shades. With this hue, your skin leans pink, blue and blue based reds. For makeup, start with a pink based foundation giving you a radiant rosy glow on your skin.Add a sweep of plum/rose blush on your cheeks and berry, rose, mauve or plum lipstick on your mouth. For eye shadow and mascara,go for violet, pink, lavender, lilac and blue pastels. One way to wear your favorite colors that don’t appear on the cool chart is to sport them farther from your face – wear a pair of brown pants, for instance, with a bright white shirt, or olive green shorts with a pink tank top.Select hair dyes with ash and platinum shades. With this undertone, you are likely to get sunburned opposite from the warm undertone.
Understanding your undertone is key to finding the perfect look. Its more important to note that preference also matters…..rock what you like and whatever makes you feel alive!!!
“A little bad taste is like a nice splash of paprika. We all need a splash of bad taste—it’s hearty, it’s healthy, it’s physical. I think we could use more of it. No taste is what I’m against.” —Diana Vreeland
